The Shutterpunk goes to the Big Easy!

General shenanigans in New Orleans! The Goofercrew terrorizes anyone we can in the French Quarter while copious amounts of drinking, tomfoolery, debauchery, drinking, and general chaos ensue.

To balance out the Carnival and revelry, I had an obligation to not forget the less-fortunate parts of New Orleans that were devastated by Katrina. Dave was so kind as to secure access to a rental car and then drive me around the 9th Ward and Slidell to chronicle the conditions and improvements made in the last eighteen months since the hurricane. The photos will largely speak for themselves. And while downtown seems unaffected and the French Quarter continues to be off-the-hook, a tinge of bitterness pervades the town, punctuated occasionally by desperation. New Orleans, however, takes the place as our second favorite town (after San Francisco) and comes highly recommended. The people were great: they bought us drinks, gave us food, and made it a completely fantastic week.
