A Bad Unkl Sista performance is a special breed of the bizarre.
Do find Anastazia’s wholly alien, completely practical and fabulously functional wearable costumes at BadUnklSista.com.
It is likely that I shall return tonight for the next installment of this special performance, in which case this gallery shall be updated with some of the new photos. And yes, I’m posting this at five in the morning — let it not be said that I’m a slacker.
I was the official shutterpunk for the Burning Man Regional Summit this last weekend, February 15th through 17th. The Burning Man Project flew regionals in from all over the world for three days of workshops and information sharing. I had the fortunate chance to sit in on a number of these (lingering while taking photos) and gleaned quite a bit of excellent information, from handling PR in the face of a crisis to working with city government for permits with respect to special events and a thousand other things.
Photos are from Burning Man headquarters in San Francisco and the Department of Spontaneous Combustion in Oakland, California. Pictured above is Marian Goodell (Jack Rabbit).
…At the Hypnodrome in San Francisco. I unfortunately only caught the second half of the show, as it started an hour early on Sunday and I was busy working the Burning Man Regional Summit (those photos are coming soon). However, there should be a second run come spring, and it shouldn’t be missed.
Pictured above is Russel Blackwood on the right and his 18-year anniversary cake. Contained within is Jill Tracy and Paul Mercer, The Indra, Audra Wolfmann, and more.
See them here.
See the gallery here. The vast majority of designs shown here are by the inimitable Bad Unkl Sista.
Just a few shots from the Foreign Cinema’s 8 ½ year anniversary in the Mission District of San Francisco, where Vau de Vire served up some special entertainment. PS: The food was delicious. Pictured above is Boenobo of Gooferman and the Chef’s Daughter, arguably the most gregarious of all toddlers in the world.
All three days of the Edwardian Ball are now online! See them all here: www.theblight.net/08/edwardian/
The gallery is composed of photos from Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights’ shows at the 944 Super Village at the Scottsdale Waterfront in Arizona, and a few from the house we rented a half hour down Scottsdale Blvd. The party was thrown by 944 Magazine, and notables included Velvet Revolver, Juliette and the Licks, Wyclef Jean, Paris Hilton, and 50 Cent. A few photos are from these other groups, but it should be hard to confuse them with our own special breed of San Francisco circus.
